Ricky Bobby wins May Fitness Challenge

Posted under Office News on July 11th, 2008 by Jeff Partl

Mike Leaptrott (aka ”Ricky Bobby”) won the May Fitness Challenge handily by jogging/walking 72 miles.  Throughout the month, Mike peppered his fellow competitors with Talledega Nights movie quotes.

Jeff Partl, who got off to a late start, came in a distant second walking 40 miles.

Scott Villemain, the organizer and odds on favorite to win the challenge, appeared to be dejected by his lackluster performance.  He ran 34 miles and came in third place.

Josh Hatfield (aka “Flobi”) came out of the gate fast.  He started so fast that after he walked/smoked 22 miles in three days he missed a day of work because he was ”tired and sore”.  When asked why he did not walk any more the rest of the month Flobi replied, “It took two weeks for the blisters on my feet to heal”.

The trophy presentation was capped off by an “office victory lap”  by Ricky Bobby.

Company Fitness Challenge

Posted under Office News on July 8th, 2008 by Jeff Partl

PowerServe believes staying fit is a key component longer term health.  In an effort to encourage better fitness and some healthy competition, we created the PowerServe Fitness Challenge.  Employees can compete in a monthly walking/running contest.  Whoever travels the most miles in a given month will win the Fitness Challenge Trophy and bragging rights.

We will use the NIke Plus web site (www.nikeplus.com) to track our distance.  Everyone competing in the challenge will need to purchase a Nike Plus sensor and sportsband or Ipod.  The only other rule is that runs must be uploaded daily – no sandbagging!

Good luck!

PowerServe expands its base by acquiring 7th Street Media

Posted under Office News on March 24th, 2008 by Chris Harrison

For Immediate Release – On March 1, 2008, PowerServe, a web design and software development company based in Augusta, announced the acquisition of over one hundred 7th Street Media web clients from Morris Communications. Although the majority of the clients are local small businesses, they also include clients throughout the United States.

These clients can expect to benefit from PowerServe’s full range of services: timely support, award winning graphic design, and superior technology solutions, which include content management, e-commerce, real estate solutions, and custom web development.

Since restructuring and refocusing the company in 2003, PowerServe has grown in many ways. The company has over 350 satisfied customers being served by 15 experienced analysts, graphic designers and programmers.

“The deal makes sense for both companies and our clients. We were looking to grow the web design and hosting aspect of our business and Morris Communication had already decided to phase out 7th Street Media”, said Jeff Partl, PowerServe’s President. “The clients will now be working with a provider that has more resources to help them grow their business.”
